We are currently recruiting for a full-time HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team at our Sacramento, CA location. The HR Generalist is responsible for all areas of human resources support for 350 employees across 12 branch locations. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated experience in employee relations.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
Acts as an employee relations specialist.
Conducts investigations.
Coaches, counsels, and guides managers in execution of employee corrective actions.
Recruitment/Onboarding:
Assists with recruitment tasks as needed (posting positions, reviews applications, prescreens, extends job offers).
Conducts onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth new hire experience.
Compliance and HR Admin:
Ensures compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policy.
Maintain HRIS data accuracy and employee records, ensuring compliance with all governing agencies.
Benefit Management:
Administers employee benefit programs and responds to employee inquiries.
Communicates with carriers, COBRA TPA, and broker to resolve issues.
Supports open enrollment, benefits communication, and election process.
Reconciles benefit billing, verifies accuracy and processes for payment.
Leave Management/ADA Administration:
Manages leave programs including FMLA/CFRA, disability, paid family leave. Consults with employees and managers on eligibility and rights.
Engages in interactive process with employee, consults with management, and determines reasonable accommodation.
HR Programs:
Supports performance discussion cycles and ensures timely completion.
Contributes to engagement and recognition initiatives.
Works collaboratively with HR staff to develop and implement programs to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
Training and Development:
Identifies training and development needs, sources/creates training programs, and coordinates/delivers training.
Audits and tracks all certifications.
Workers’ Compensation and Safety:
May manage Workers’ Compensation and Auto Accident claims.
Supports company safety program. Ensures compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations and requirements.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field plus minimum 3 years’ work experience in the role of HR Coordinator, Specialist, or Generalist. Or minimum 8 years’ Human Resources work experience.
- Considerable knowledge of and experience with HR principles and practices, and administration of California employment law.
- Demonstrated experience in:
o Investigating and resolving employee relations issues.
o Administering benefits, including open enrollment, and 401(k).
o Administering leaves of absence, and workers’ compensation and safety programs.
o HRIS administration. Experience with ADP’s Workforce Now preferred.
o Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite, applied use of pivot tables.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SP certification preferred
