NorthBay Healthcare opened its first hospital in 1959 and remains Solano County's only locally based, locally managed nonprofit healthcare organization. NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville are known for providing quality services.
Our hospitals offer 24-hour emergency care, intensive care, and sophisticated surgical and diagnostic services. Both have maintained accreditation from The Joint Commission.
NorthBay Healthcare is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. The collaboration of Solano County's leader in health care and the world-renowned leader in medicine provides patients a care team that combines the best minds to tackle the most complex cases.
The 132-bed NorthBay Medical Center is a regional center for pregnancy and childbirth, and is proudly designated as a Baby Friendly facility. Our Newborn Intensive Care Unit provides the most sophisticated services for premature or ill newborns within 50 miles. NorthBay Heart & Vascular Center offers the only open-heart surgery center in the county. The Emergency Department is a Chest Pain Center and STEMI Receiving Center for heart attack patients and a primary stroke center. And our Level II Trauma Center was the first established in Solano County and continues to be the busiest in the area.
The NorthBay Medical Group with offices in Fairfield, Vacaville and Green Valley, includes more than 100 primary care and specialty care providers.
Our other keynote services include the NorthBay Cancer Center and the Center for Orthopedics. In 2016 NorthBay HealthSpring Fitness opened, the first medical fitness center in the county.

Our History
NorthBay Healthcare has a long tradition of service to the Northern Solano County region, continually improving and expanding services to meet the growing community’s needs. The origins of NorthBay Healthcare date back to 1956.
1956
Community leaders from Fairfield and Vacaville initiated a fund drive to build a hospital that would service families throughout upper Solano County.
1959
The 32-bed, nonprofit Intercommunity Memorial Hospital opened its doors.
1977
Community growth sparked the construction of a new health care facility, Intercommunity Hospital.
1979
Intercommunity Hospital expanded to 108 beds.
1983
The need for a hospital in Vacaville became apparent and capital campaign began.
1985
Intercommunity Hospital added a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
1986
A corporate reorganization changed the organization's name to NorthBay Healthcare. Intercommunity Hospital became NorthBay Medical Center.
1987
NorthBay Healthcare opened the 50-bed NorthBay VacaValley Hospital following a $1.2 million community fund-raising project.
1992
An addition to NorthBay Medical Center included a larger maternity department featuring labor/deliver/recovery rooms (LDRs), a larger Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a state-of-the-art critical care unit, bringing the hospital to its current 132-bed capacity.
2002
New NorthBay Medical Center Emergency Department opened in hospital expansion built in 1992.
The NorthBay Center for Primary Care opens its first medical office in Vacaville.
2007
New NorthBay VacaValley Hospital Emergency Department expansion opened.
2008
NorthBay Healthcare administration building opens in Green Valley.
2009
The NorthBay Heart & Vascular Center brings advanced cardiac treatment to Solano County.
2010
NorthBay Center for Women’s Health, an integrated program tailored exclusively for women, opens on the NorthBay Medical Center campus.
2011
NorthBay Medical Center becomes the first Level III Trauma Center in Solano County.
2013
NorthBay Center for Neuroscience is established at NorthBay Medical Center.
2014
NorthBay Medical Center designated as a Baby-Friendly facility.
NorthBay Medical Center earns verification as a Level II Trauma Center.
NorthBay Medical Center and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital earns the coveted "Magnet" designation for nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
