Sometimes in order to know where you want to go, you need to look at where you have been. Fall 2012 InterWest celebrated its 20th anniversary. It is amazing how fast time passes! Greater presence with the insurance carriers, the highest quality of services for our clients, and enough critical mass to compete and remain independently owned were the guiding principles InterWest was founded on. Twenty years later those statements remain as the foundations of InterWest's success.

Like most firms that strive to remain independently owned and locally operated InterWest has seen many changes along the way. The one constant has been the quality of our staff all across the company. Our commitment to provide the highest level of services can only be achieved by having the highest quality insurance professionals in all of our departments. The pride our staff takes in the work they perform and for the organization they work for comes across to our clients and carrier partners.

Company History

History

InterWest Insurance Services was founded in 1992 as a result of the merger of three large successful insurance brokerage firms located in Northern California. Our aggressive marketing and acquisition efforts have extended our influence into Central and Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. During the past 17 years, we have successfully unified into a single seamlessly integrated organization with 7 offices throughout the state. We've grown in size from $10 Million in annual revenue in 1992 to over $55 Million.

With close to a century of combined experience and premiums exceeding $450 Million annually, our unsurpassed visibility in the California marketplace positions us to offer purchasing power and long-term stability while remaining a constantly expanding resource. Due to our size and buying power, InterWest can negotiate more effectively with the insurance markets we represent while also offering specialized, efficient value-added services to our clients.

As the 60th largest insurance brokerage overall and the 39th largest privately held brokerage in the United States, InterWest is a leader among top insurance firms. We offer unparalleled expertise in Employee Benefits as well as innovative value-added services from our Claims & Risk Control Specialists and Human Resource & Labor Law Consultants. Although we operate principally in California, we are licensed to write business in all 50 states and staffed to service customers with locations throughout the nation.

The credentials of InterWest are diverse. Our clients are from numerous industry groups such as agriculture, banking, construction, country clubs, fitness, health care, hospitality, manufacturing, social services, technology, transportation as well as many others. They range in size from sole proprietors to those employing several thousand and paying annual premiums up to several million dollars. Our experience includes the development and management of several captive programs and self-insured groups, as well as a self-insured JPA.

As a result of the volume of business InterWest manages, we have established very important and extensive relationships in the insurance industry on a countrywide basis. It is these relationships that allow us to offer unique insurance solutions to our clients.
