The Human Resources Technician performs technical and administrative tasks requiring specialized knowledge and judgment in the application of human resources policies, procedures and systems. Positions may be assigned to different programs areas within Human Resources, such as recruitment and examination, classification, compensation and payroll transactions.

Recruitment (Temporary staffing and Special Projects) 

  • Assist with recruiting, application and employment processes, including interacting and collaborating with hiring managers.
  • Coordinate and schedule New Hire Orientation
  • Coordinate onboarding and performance tracking (attendance, behavioral issues, etc.) with supervisors for all temporary personnel.
  • Maintain recruitment logs and evaluate recruitment procedures
  • Attend job fairs and school career programs


  • Maintain and update the Safety Emergency Evacuation List- add new hires, remove terminated employees, update supervisors, etc. on a regular basis to ensure the list is accurate and up to date.
  • Assist in coordinating and planning wellness events (e.g. flu shot clinics, group activities) to include event promotion, coordination with vendors as needed, manage employee enrollment, event set up and take down, onsite event support as needed.
  • Assist with compiling and analyzing data and running reports as needed for workplace safety and wellness initiatives
  • Support Sr. HR Analyst with scheduling COVID-19 testing and follow up on non-compliance 

General HR Administration

  • Prepare general HR correspondence, memos to employees
  • Update employee file: changes in address, pay, taxes, deductions, contribution
  • Act as liaison between general public and Agency departments
  • Assist with diversity outreach

HR Support and Customer Service 

  • Assists professional staff in the completion of special projects and assignments
  • Provides technical support to Human Resources and other Agency staff in the use of HR online system; sets-up users and access permissions; troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves technical issues
  • Establish working relationships with public, vendors, organizations and Agency staff


Any combination of experience and education that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities could be qualifying, as determined by the Agency. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Two (2) years of office assistant experience, which included at least one (1) year working with human resources policies, procedures and practices in a human resources operation, and two years of college.  Additional human resources office assistant experience may be substituted for the college requirement on a year for year basis and two years of college
Preferred education would be possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, human resources management, industrial relations, or a closely related field.
