Working in collaboration with the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief of Human Resources, our Employee Relations Manager role is a blend of strategic leadership, hands-on problem-solving, and administrative oversight. You will be the go-to person for resolving workplace issues, ensuring legal and policy compliance, and fostering a positive, engaged workforce. It requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality. The role also involves significant collaboration with HR leadership, legal teams, and external partners, making it a critical bridge between employees and the organization’s goals. Specifically, you will:
- Supervise and develop the HR Employee Relations Specialist through regular coaching, performance feedback, and professional development support.
- Serve as primary contact for complex employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, harassment/discrimination complaints, and arrest notifications.
- Partner with leadership to address employee concerns proactively, manage the problem-solving process, and ensure consistent policy application across the organization.
- Act as subject matter expert on HR policies and employment law compliance; develops and revises policies, handbook content, and ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee employee engagement initiatives, including recognition programs, emergency assistance funds, event planning, and collaborate with other departments on engagement strategies.
- Manage employee data systems, performance appraisal processes, separation documentation, exit interviews, and provide regular HR analytics and reports to leadership.
- Develop and deliver training programs for managers on employee relations topics and facilitate new hire orientation sessions.
We require:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or another related field is essential.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in human resources and/or human services management required; employee relations experience preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
- Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of employment and labor laws.
- Proactive, efficient, well organized, extremely detail-oriented, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines by maximizing available technology.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate with multiple constituents clearly and professionally.
